SUMMARY:Flower Farm Visit with Lunch 9th September 2026 10am-3pm
DESCRIPTION:A day to immerse yourself in the world of growing seasonal British flowers. Suitable for anyone -with or without a flower patch or any floristry experience! \nThis year we are doing it slightly differently- no driving around\, lunch included AND you’ll get to pick and arrange flowers (with guidance and a demo by Georgia) to take home with you. You’ll also be able to purchase ‘extra’ stems if you’d like to…it will be Dahlia season! \nThis is how the day will look: \n\n10am – We will meet at Maplehurst Farm\,Nuthurst Rd\, Maplehurst\, Horsham RH13 6RB\nToni will meet us and we will listen to her chat about her (amazing) flower farm while we have coffee and refreshments\nWe will also have a tour of her flower fields and you’ll be able to ask any questions\nWe will go back inside the barn and Georgia will demonstrate an abundant bowl of flowers (using flowers from the fields)\nYou will then go back into the field and have free rein to choose and cut materials for your own design (snippers and buckets provided)\nWhile the flowers have a drink you will have a barbecue lunch. A choice of Venison burgers (produced on the farm) or Vegetarian burgers with a salad or two and pudding. There will also be soft drinks available and wine for those who’d like it\nYou will then create your own bowl of flowers (bowl and mechanics provided) to take home\nWe should finish around 3pm\n\n  \nThis sounds like a PERFECT day to me! \nPlease wear weather appropriate clothing and footwear. Please bring something vaguely suitable to transport your bowl of flowers! \n

Time for the huge change we are facilitating to develop and grow…This is why the course runs over 2-3 months. You will need time to practice\, write up notes\, follow up leads etc…I hope you will agree!\nA ‘Secret’ What’s App group is set up for each course so there is ample opportunity for contact with each other and Georgia between sessions. This remains open after the course finishes.\nThe Sussex Flower School Forum (Facebook group -feel free to join now!) is available for work experience and job opportunities and ANY questions you may have…\nWe work in an Eco way as possible and foam free mechanics will be discussed in detail for every design you learn so you will have a good working knowledge that can be topped up with many of the other foam free courses.\n\nThe course includes an accompanied trip to Covent Garden Flower Market (travel costs etc at own expense) The date for this is Saturday 18th July 2026. \nOn completion of the course you will receive a Certificate (valid for CPD)\, a downloadable badge for your website/social media\, a new floristry career and friends for life! \nThe course includes all materials and refreshments\, you just need to bring your lunch.  \nYou also receive a toolbox with scissors\, knife\, rose stripper etc to get you started…. \nSuitable for all levels -don’t worry if you are a beginner. SUMMARY:The Career Course -10 sessions Sept. 11th '26- Nov. 13th '26
DESCRIPTION:DATES: 2026- September 11th\, 18th\, 25th October 2nd\, 9th\, 16th\, 23rd\, 30th November 6th\, 13th \n\nEach session we will cover a different aspect of floral design\, looking at the theory behind the designs and then creating them to take home.\nThe emphasis will be on covering a wide variety of designs and mediums that any working florist would be expected to know.\nThere is a whole session dedicated to the business of floristry too….you will have all the know how to start your own business after the course.\nThere is ongoing mentoring and support once you finish too.\nThe course is structured to allow the greatest opportunity for practice and study in between sessions.\nI don’t deliver (or personally believe in!) ‘quick fix’ career courses….I believe that our brains need time to absorb each session\, time for the HUGE amount of information to percolate through and ‘settle’. All  the designs you create-you take home. \nThe total cost of the course is £2200  .This includes everything..all your flowers\, mechanics\, containers etc. We are happy to accept deposits of £500 to secure your place. If you need to change dates you can transfer the payment to the next floristry Career Course or an alternative course. We can create a payment plan to suit you. \nIf you would like to chat to any of the past students do just let us know and we will put you in touch…feel free to join The Sussex Flower School Forum (Facebook group) too to see what everyone is up to and see how many job opportunities we can offer… \nWe are happy to teach the course One to One on dates to suit you (1-1 rates apply) \nIf you have to miss a session this can be ‘caught up’ with a 1-1 session for the additional cost of £100. \nExtras\n\nAdmission to The History of Floristry Facebook group where there are lots of recorded lectures by Georgia\nFlower Therapy is available monthly for regular support and help with techniques etc (£20 a session)\nYou will also EACH receive an hours’ mentoring with Georgia after the course finishes (to be taken with 12 months of your finish date) to help you plan your next steps or go over anything you need to.\nI do not disappear into a cloud of smoke I will be by your side FOREVER….as much or as little as you need me.\nFlower Clubis the best option for staying in contact and even more supported AND gives you 10% off every course going forward…\n\n  \nCourse Outline\nPractical designs covered include: wreaths\, bowls\, hand tied bouquets\, ‘long and low’ arrangements\, coffin sprays\, wedding bouquets\, buttonholes and corsages\, flower crowns\, large urns and pedestals\, bowl arrangements and meadow boxes..all the designs to get you going and able to create and many more as well. You will use almost every floristry medium that exists..from chicken wire and pin holders to Floral Fibre\, Bio Foam and moss. Our techniques are as Eco friendly as possible- always with a keen eye on flower longevity and practicality. Every session you will create at least one practical design and others will be discussed. \nTheory topics covered include: wholesalers and the supply chain\, conditioning and flower care\, the business of floristry\, social media\, branding\, how to set up a business\, how to run a wedding\, how to run a funeral\, health and safety\, contract flowers and so much more…you will be ready to launch your business by the end… \nI teach using the Key Shapes system. You learn a ‘key shape’ each session eg sphere\, Roman cross\, triangle\, the 3D triangle\, the circle\, the Greek cross and more. This system allows you to have the base line techniques for many other designs -even if you haven’t created them- as you also learn all the mechanics for ‘transference’ too. In other words\, you create a key shape and this \,in reality\, allows you to create at least three or four other designs too. This is a good thing! There are comprehensive handouts for every design. \nI promise you will have a fabulous time and I will look after you! If you have any questions do please just E mail me Enquiries@thesussexflowerschool.co.uk \nBelow is the (very) brief outline of what is covered each session. There is in reality a LOT more! \nSession 1- Supply chain\, wholesalers\, the ‘larder’\, seasonal wreath (bio foam) \nSession 2- Conditioning and flower care\, basic botany\, a bowl of flowers  (chicken wire) \nSession 3 – The business of floristry\, sectional long and low (Floral Fibre) \nSession 4- Retail floristry\, Health and Safety\, hand tied bouquets (tied) \nSession 5- Funerals\, coffin spray (moss) \nSession 6- Wiring -buttonholes\, corsages and flower crowns (wired and tied\, glueing techniques) \nSession 7- Weddings -wedding bouquet (tied) \nSession 8-Elements and Principles of Design\, the Constance Spry inspired design ( chicken wire and pin holders) \nSession 9- Event floristry\, Contract floristry\, Freelancing\, the pedestal arrangement (‘Renewal’ foam) \nSession 10 -Consolidation ‘test’ (not pass or fail!) and meadow box/trough (Moss and ‘Renewal’ foam) \n  \nPlease feel free to download a PDF of the Career Course Curriculum for your reference below…exact session order may vary but it will all be covered! \nThe Career Course -the curriculum \n“How do we adequately thank you for everything you have taught us: flowers and more. The best course I have ever done!” Lisa \n\n“The course was filled with love\, laughter\, support and genuine encouragement.  Each week we would learn different sections of floristry as well as be able to practice and each week one or a few of the girls would have woes and worries about their new business ventures and we’d all listen and support each other\, giving advice and brain storming to try and sort any problem out”  Jenna \n\n“Just a wee note to say a HUGE thank you for such a wonderful couple of months on the Career Change Course.
