- The emphasis will be on covering a wide variety of designs that any working florist would be expected to know.
- There is a whole session dedicated to the business of floristry too….you will have all the know how to start your own business after the course.
- There is ongoing mentoring and support once you finish too.
- The course is structured to allow the greatest opportunity for practice and study in between sessions
- We generally start with three intensive days together and then change to once every week or two for seven further sessions
- A ‘Secret’ What’s App group is set up for each course so there is ample opportunity for contact with each other and the tutor between sessions. This remains open after the course finishes.
- The Sussex Flower School Forum (Facebook group -feel free to join now!) is available for work experience and job opportunities
- We are working towards being as Eco as possible but still use Bio foam to teach key design 1- the wreath. Eco mechanics will be discussed in detail for every design you learn so you will have a good working knowledge that can be topped up with many of the other foam free courses.
The course includes an accompanied trip to Covent Garden Flower Market (travel costs etc at own expense) The date for this is Saturday 16th November 2024 (there will also be one in Spring 2025).
On completion of the course you will receive a Certificate (valid for CPD), a downloadable badge for your website/social media, a new floristry career and friends for life!
The course includes all materials and refreshments, you just need to bring your lunch.
You also receive a toolbox with scissors, knife, rose stripper etc to get you started….
Suitable for all levels -don’t worry if you are a beginner. All the designs you create-you take home.

If you need to change dates you can transfer the payment to the next floristry Career Course or an alternative course. We can create a payment plan to suit you.

Course Outline
Practical designs covered include: wreaths, high table risers, hand tied bouquets, ‘long and low’ arrangements, coffin sprays, wedding bouquets, buttonholes and corsages, flower crowns, large urns and pedestals, bowl arrangements and meadow boxes..all the designs to get you going and able to create and many more as well. You will use almost every floristry medium that exists..from chicken wire and pin holders to Floral Fibre, Oshun pouches and moss. Our techniques are as Eco friendly as possible- always with a keen eye on flower longevity and practicality. Every session you will create at least one practical design and others will be demonstrated.
Theory topics covered include: wholesalers and the supply chain, conditioning and flower care, the business of floristry, social media, branding, how to set up a business, how to run a wedding, how to run a funeral, health and safety, contract flowers and so much more…you will be ready to launch your business by the end…
I teach using the Key Shapes system. You learn a ‘key shape’ each session eg sphere, Roman cross, triangle, the 3D triangle, the circle, the Greek cross and more. This system allows you to have the base line techniques for many other designs -even if you haven’t created them- as you also learn all the mechanics for ‘transference’ too. In other words, you create a key shape and this ,in reality, allows you to create at least three or four other designs too. This is a good thing! There are comprehensive handouts for every design.
I promise you will have a fabulous time and I will look after you! If you have any questions do please just E mail me Enquiries@thesussexflowerschool.co.uk
