Large Scale Floral Decorating

Large Scale Floral Decorating

This is a 3 day course designed for those who have some floristry experience. Perhaps you have been on some courses here/elsewhere or maybe you have been a keen home florist for a while? Either way you will be ready for some new challenges with the knowledge that we are here to help you every step of the way....you are NOT expected to be an expert!

The three consecutive days are each planned to allow you to work on varied specifications to help build your wedding and event portfolio. There will be lots of guidance and help with new techniques but the emphasis is on 'just doing it' and working as a team, planning, costing and dividing the work load...like real life! At the end of the three days the designs will be divided up between you to take home (if physically possible!)

A professional photographer will come to the school towards the end of the course to take photographs of all the designs in situ. After the course you will each receive the High Res images for you to use and keep for your portfolios, websites etc

All materials/props and refreshments/homemade cake are included. Please bring a packed lunch as time will be tight!
If you would like to pay in chunks just let me know -no problem.

Day 1

Full Tablescape - Dining Table

You will work as a TEAM. Designs will include:
  • Dressed, table top canopy to create height and opulence
  • A long and low design down the middle of the table
  • Individual place settings -floral favours and napkin designs
  • An 'easel' design for the table plan to be displayed

Day 2

Party designs

You will work as a  ROTATING TEAM to create all the designs you might expect at such an event. These will include (at least):
  • A huge, hanging globe of flowers
  • Hanging Candelabra
  • Huge urn on a plinth
  • Tall, standing candelabra with a snaking train that trails down

Day 3

INDIVIDUAL DESIGNS

On the third day you will work individually so you can develop your own portfolio as you require. You will produce two separate designs with different briefs in mind. These is an opportunity to practice or learn new techniques, maybe work on Corporate designs or more advanced wedding arrangements..it's up to you. It will also give you the chance to design and execute a brief as you would in 'real life'.

Please note: This course requires a minimum of three students to run.

"A great three days. Wonderful to be able to try some genuinely huge designs, and great to work as a team. We had an excellent selection of flowers and a free reign with lots of support and guidance along the way. We also had lovely cake and coffee to keep us going. Great fun." David April 2016
